Means for estimating journey attributes based on mobile device journey data

A processing device implemented method of estimating journey attributes is provided. The method comprises, selecting (710,Fig.7) a plurality of mobile device journey data 810,820 according to one or more criteria associated with end points of the mobile device journey data; determining virtual journey data 1000 based upon the plurality of mobile device journey data 810,820; and determining one or more attributes of the virtual journey data 1000. The method is particularly suited for use with a portable navigation device. The mobile device journey data may comprise journey times along at least a part of the route. The attributes of the virtual journey may be the journey time along a route.
