A microenvironment for regulating the temperature of an infant comprising a bed 12, an enclosure 13, a heating assembly 15 attached to the bed 12, a display screen 28 and a computer 30 with a memory 32 wherein the computer 30 is arranged to display dynamic images of a user instruction. Sensors may be provided to detect a problem with the temperature, humidity, oxygen level or water supply and the instruction may provide a pictorial indication of how to fix the fault or bring a parameter within a desired range. The image may be animated, a video or a cartoon and may show someone performing the required action. The device is arranged so that it can be used in rural or less developed countries which lack skilled technicians to operate the device or where a different language is used.
