A pulsed radar transmitter amplifier with rapid turn-off The close-in sensitivity of a pulsed radar system is improved by driving the drain supply of the transmitting GaAs transistor 31 with a pull-up NFET 212 that responds rapidly to a rise in the control signal Pconi. The gate charge of NFET 212 is discharged quickly through NFET 211 when Pconi goes to a high level. The NFET pull-up device 212 is turned on by charge delivered from bootstrap capacitor 215 when Pconi goes low. The resistor 217C may be bypassed by a transistor (251, figure 6) to shorten the turn-on time. The gate supply for the GaAs transistor 31 is also pulsed but does not need to provide a rapid response.
