An enclosure with a movable roof to allow escape of gases in the event of an explosion within the enclosure

The enclosure conforms to LPS1175 SR2 or SR3 and has an explosion relief roof. The enclosure is preferably made from glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) housing and has a roof 13 which is connected to the walls 12 of the enclosure such that in the event of a bomb blast explosion the increased pressure within the enclosure causes the roof to be raised and the excess gas is vented from the enclosure. The connection between the roof and the walls permits guided limited translation movement upwards by having vertical bars 17 or rods extending downwardly from the roof which pass through openings formed in brackets 19 attached to the walls. Once the explosion is completed the roof reverts back down to its original position as a result of the force due to gravity.
