PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process of conversion of furfuryl alcohol proceeding with a catalyst which has high selectivity for 1,2-pentanediol than similar catalysts in the prior art and exhibits good industrial processability and usability.;SOLUTION: The invention uses platinum(IV) oxide or a ruthenium catalyst supported on aluminum oxide, in particular Al₂O₃, or on activated carbon (AC).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
