PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a surface contamination density just by directing a detector toward a surface to be measured.;SOLUTION: A surface contamination measurement apparatus 1 includes a surface contamination detection head 5 for detecting a surface radioactive contamination of a measuring object 9, and a contamination evaluation processing section 22 for evaluating the surface radioactive contamination of the measuring object 9. The surface contamination detection head 5 includes: a hollow radiation shield 55 in which collimators 57a, 57b are provided at one end in a longitudinal direction, the other end in the longitudinal direction is shielded by a radiation shielding material; γ-ray detectors 51a-51c for detecting radiation in each position in the longitudinal direction inside the shield 55; and a distance sensor 52 for the measuring object 9.
