PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery device applicable regardless of the external member of a battery, and capable of detecting generation amount of internal gas with high accuracy, and to provide an internal gas generation amount estimation method, a control method thereof, and a manufacturing method therefor.SOLUTION: A secondary battery device 1 includes an AE detection unit 12 for detecting an acoustic emission signal (AE signal) generated from a secondary battery 10, an AE signal event separation unit 17 for detecting generation of an event where the level of an AE signal thus detected exceeds a threshold, and a gas generation amount output unit 18 for outputting the internal gas generation amount of the secondary battery 10 based on the degree of generation of an event. An event start time is set when the level of an AE signal exceeds a threshold from a state below the threshold, and an event end time is set when the time, during which the level of an AE signal is lower than the threshold, exceeds a predetermined convergence time. A larger generation amount is outputted for more intense degree of event generation.
