PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspended particulate matter measuring device capable of automatically measuring the content of nitrate ions and sulphate ions contained in the atmosphere, and a suspended particulate matter measuring method using the device.;SOLUTION: A suspended particulate matter measuring device 10 includes a filter 12, a suction part 13, an extraction part 14, a measurement part 16, and a recording part 17. The suction part 13 sucks the air in the atmosphere at a constant flow, and makes particulate matter 11 contained in the atmosphere absorbed onto the filter 12. The extraction part 14 dissolves the particulate matter 11 absorbed onto the filter 12 with a solvent so as to extract its components, and collects them as solution. The one shared measurement part 16 measures the quantity of nitrate ions and sulphate ions which are contained in the solution collected by the extraction part 14, and outputs a measurement result.
