PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an undoped cerium oxide nanoparticle that includes Ce3+ by a high concentration of at least 75%, and in which a high concentration Ce3+ state can be maintained in an ambient air for at least one month.;SOLUTION: A method is characterized in that a film thickness nano-order cerium oxide nanoparticle layer formed on a basal plate is irradiated by an argon ion, thereby at least 75% high concentration Ce3+ is formed, and a fluorite type undoped cerium oxide nanoparticle in which the atmospheric stability can be maintained is manufactured. A fluorite type structure undoped cerium oxide nanoparticle that includes at least 75% high concentration Ce3+ and has atmospheric stability is disclosed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
