PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe wall thinning inspection apparatus capable of highly accurately detecting thinning of piping devices including pitting.;SOLUTION: According to an embodiment of the present invention, a pipe wall thinning inspection apparatus includes; ultrasonic probes 1 mounted at a regular interval along a circumferential direction of an elbow 5 which is a piping device under inspection; a plurality of shoes, each of which is provided to each of the plurality of ultrasonic probes 1 to transform ultrasonic waves transmitted by the ultrasonic probes 1 into vertically polarized shear waves and make the vertically polarized shear waves propagate in an axial direction of the device under inspection; and a thinning assessment unit 12 which receives the vertically polarized shear waves reflected by the device under inspection using the ultrasonic probes 1 and identifies presence and locations of thinned sections in the device under inspection.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
