PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a human contour at high accuracy.;SOLUTION: By an input operation, a search area 10 is set on an input image, extended from a start area 11 toward an end area 12 and having a width with a certain size or larger. Search means 3 searches for an edge from the start area 11 side toward the end area 12 side in the search area 10.
