PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system capable of supporting linking among plural items for establishing tractability of specifications of the items.SOLUTION: The document management system includes: an item information database storing a piece of item information belonging to a book as the document data; an item link candidate extraction section that extracts candidates of the item information to be linked with a selected item information based on an item description as a text data included in the selected item information from the item information database; and an item link registration section that registers item link information database storing the item information and the item link information for associating other item information and the item information specified as a link target in the candidates of the item information in the item link information database while associating the same with the selected item information.
