PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extraneous object detection device in a wireless power transmission system and a method thereof.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a wireless power transmission device which includes a primary core block for transmitting wireless power to a wireless power receiving device by coupling with a secondary core block arranged in the wireless power receiving device through magnetic induction or magnetic resonance; an electric driving unit which is connected with the primary core block and applies an AC signal needed by the primary core block for transmitting the wireless power; a control unit which is connected with the electric driving unit and generates a control signal for controlling the AC signal; and a current measurement unit which measures a current flowing in the primary core block and obtains a current measurement value obtained by converting it to a numerical value suitable to analysis in the control unit. The wireless power transmission device is capable of identifying the extraneous object intervened between the wireless power transmission device and the wireless power receiving device without support of the wireless power receiving device, and suspends the wireless power transmission when the extraneous object is detected.
