PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidity controlling building material capable of sufficiently achieving performance of high moisture absorbing/releasing capability which silica gel has when the silica gel is used as a humidity controlling material in a cement-based material, having light weight, excellent dimensional stability and high intensity, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof and a decorative humidity controlling building material containing the humidity controlling building material as a base material.;SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a humidity controlling building material includes wet blending a compound containing 20 to 60 mass% of cement, 5 to 50 mass% by solid content conversion of a calcium silicate hydrate slurry produced by a hydrothermal synthesis of a calcareous raw material and a siliceous raw material in advance, 1 to 15 mass% of a silica gel, 1 to 50 mass% of an inorganic filler and 3 to 12 mass% of a reinforcement fiber to obtain slurry, paper making the obtained slurry to obtain a raw plate, press-dewatering the obtained raw plate and then curing/hardening it. A moisture content in a thin film when the thin film is wound on a making roll in a paper making step is 80 to 160% and a press pressure in a pressure/dehydration step is 2 to 30 MPa.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
