PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sum-of-squares route arithmetic unit, in which a value I of an in-phase component and a value Q of an orthogonal phase component of a digital demodulation signal are entered, and route of sum of square of the value I and the value Q (I2+Q2) is determined using repeated operation of a Newton iterative technique, and which aims at reducing the number of operation times repeated until solution of the repeated operation of the Newton iterative technique is converged.;SOLUTION: A sum-of-squares route arithmetic unit includes an initial value calculating means which outputs a larger absolute value out of a value I and a value Q, as an initial value used for a Newton iterative technique.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
