PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode material for an alkali metal ion secondary battery improved in storage characteristics and charging/discharging capacity.SOLUTION: In an anode material for an alkali metal ion secondary battery containing amorphous carbon, a half cell is prepared by using anode material for an alkali metal ion secondary battery as an anode, metal lithium as a counter electrode of the anode and a solution in which LiPFis added in a ratio of 1.0 mol/dmto a mixed solvent mixing ethylene carbonate and diethyl carbonate in a capacitance ratio of 1:1 as an electrolyte. The half cell is charged under a predetermined half cell charging condition and then, a half value width of a main resonance peak inLi solid-state NMR analysis of the anode material for an alkali metal ion secondary battery collected from the half cell is 0.4 kHz or more and 2.0 kHz or less and observed while being shifted to a low magnetic field side, with respect to a resonance line of lithium chloride, by 10 ppm or more and 35 ppm or less.
