PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for manufacturing butene by dimerizing, at a first step, ethylene by using a homogeneous catalyst and subsequently performing dehydrogenation.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing 1,3-butadiene from a stream including ethylene, comprises the following steps: a) dimerizing, for the purpose of manufacturing an effluent including n-butene, ethylene into n-butene by contacting the stream with a catalyst system of a homogeneous catalyst base and b) dehydrogenating, for the purpose of manufacturing an effluent including 1,3-butadiene, the n-butene obtained at the step a) by contacting, with a heterogeneous catalyst, at least a portion of the effluent manufactured at the step a).
