PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for providing insecticidal activity to a host cell by genetic recombination.SOLUTION: There are provided: a composition comprising a coding sequence encoding delta-endotoxin polypeptide being an insecticidal protein derived from Bacillus thuringiensis; an expression cassette comprising the coding sequence; use of a DNA construct for transformation and expression in a host cell; a host cell transformed by the composition; an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding delta-endotoxin; an amino acid sequence corresponding to the polynucleotide; an antibody that binds to such an amino acid sequence; an isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a specified amino acid sequence, a specified nucleotide sequence or a variant or a fragment thereof; and genetic recombinant plant transformed with the composition.
