PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NMR screening method (a histidine-based NMR screening method) for carbonate dehydratase inhibitors using the behavior of the functional amino acid histidine as a probe effective for drug discovery, and a method for screening substances with catalytic ability for carbon dioxide hydration.SOLUTION: The method for screening carbonate dehydratase inhibitors uses the pH dependence of NMR signals derived from histidine imidazole side chain associated with metal coordination in carbonate dehydratase, and the acid dissociation constant pKand tautomeric equilibrium constant Kof His64 as indices. This can provide "the NMR screening method (a histidine-base NMR screening method) using the behavior of the functional amino acid histidine as a probe effective for drug discovery" which reduces ambiguity in conventional NMR screening methods.
