PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a method for producing a gasification catalyst-supporting coal which can produce the coal with the gasification catalyst supported thereon at high concentration while reducing cost required for production of the gasification catalyst-supporting coal. PSOLUTION: There are prepared an acidic aqueous biomass solution generated upon carbonization treatment of at least one of woody biomass feedstock, herbaceous biomass feedstock, and food residue of vegetable origin, and biomass ash containing a gasification catalyst element of at least one of sodium, potassium and calcium serving as a gasification catalyst of coal. The aqueous biomass solution is brought into contact with the biomass ash to dissolve the gasification catalyst element contained in the biomass ash into the aqueous biomass solution, and then the aqueous biomass solution is brought into contact with coal to produce coal having the gasification catalyst element supported thereon.
