PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine nickel oxide powder having low sulfur and chlorine contents and suitable as electronic component materials or solid oxide fuel cell electrode materials, and an industrial stable method for manufacturing the same.;SOLUTION: A fine nickel oxide powder is obtained by the steps of : obtaining a nickel hydroxide powder by neutralizing an aqueous nickel sulfate solution with an alkali; washing the nickel hydroxide powder with an aqueous solution including carbonate radicals; and subsequently heating the nickel hydroxide powder within a non-reducing atmosphere at a temperature above 850°C and below 980°C and crushed the powder. The obtained fine nickel oxide powder has a sulfur content of 50 ppm.mass or below, a chlorine content of 50 ppm.mass or below, and a sodium content of 100 ppm.mass or below and yields a D50 of 0.5 μm or below as measured by the laser scattering method.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
