PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce adhesion of adhesive to outer peripheral surfaces of rolls.SOLUTION: The pressing apparatus includes a pair of rolls driven to rotate with the outer peripheral surfaces thereof facing each other, wherein, in passing the fibrous continuous sheet on which a polymer is layered through a thermoplastic adhesive through a roll gap between the pair of rolls along the continuation direction, the polymer and the fibrous continuous sheet are compressed by the outer peripheral surfaces into a single piece. The apparatus includes a water applying mechanism for applying water to at least the outer peripheral surface of a roll of the pair of rolls on the side of the fibrous continuous sheet, or to one of both sides of the fibrous continuous sheet that abuts on the outer peripheral surface. The water is interposed between the outer peripheral surface and the fibrous continuous sheet at the above compressing time.
