PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3,3'-dinitro-4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether from 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether with productivity which is high to such a degree that the method can be applied as an industrial production method.;SOLUTION: There is provided a method for nitrating 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether with nitric acid in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent.
