PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video information display device and a chapter skip control method which improve operability of skip operation by enabling easy confirmation of a chapter when skipping the chapter during playback of a program recorded in the video information display device.SOLUTION: The video information display device comprises: a chapter detection unit for detecting chapter information included in the program recorded on a recording medium; and a control unit for displaying on a screen a chapter information bar containing the chapter information when the chapter information is detected by the chapter detection unit during playback of the program.
