PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human activity detection system which automatically calculates a threshold value for determining the presence of human activity at home on the basis of time-series power data at the home in the past.SOLUTION: A power data input section 1 acquires power consumption at home for each day during a predetermined specific period in the past at a predetermined time interval and accumulates the power consumption in a power data storage section 21. A histogram generation section 31 generates daily histograms concerning the accumulated power consumption. A data filtering section 32 applies a discriminant analysis method to the generated histograms to calculate a degree of separation separating two classes of a low consumption class and a high consumption class for each day, and select a day on which the degree of separation becomes the largest. A threshold calculation section 33 takes a threshold value which divides the power consumption on the selected day into the two classes as the maximal value for power consumption of appliances under automatic operation without any operation by a person, and sets the threshold value as a threshold value for determining the presence of human activity.
