PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrostatic photography that forms images having high fixing strength in comparison with the case devoid of a deformation material when used in an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A toner for electrostatic photography includes: a core; a surface layer coating the surface of the core; and a deformation material which is contained in at least either one of the core and the surface layer and responds to a stimulus from the outside to deform the surface layer. The deformation material has a shape of at least either one of a needle-like shape and a plate-like shape, and has a length in a longitudinal direction of one-thirds or more and less than the same length of a diameter of the toner; and the stimulus from the outside is pressure applied to the toner.
