PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide flaky pentasil type zeolite particles and a method for producing the same.;SOLUTION: The pentasil type zeolite particles in which the thickness of flaky crystal pieces lies in the range of 20 to 100 nm and width lies in the range of 0.5 to 5 μm are made of ZSM-5 type zeolite composed of SiO₂, Al₂O₃ and M₂O (M denotes alkali metal), wherein an SiO₂/Al₂O₃ molar ratio lies in the range of 15 to 500, and an M₂O/Al₂O₃ molar ratio lies in the range of 1±0.2. The particles are produced by the following steps (a) to (f): a step (a) of mixing an alkali aluminate aqueous solution, an alkali silicate aqueous solution, an alkali hydroxide aqueous solution and water to prepare a transparent aluminosilicate solution; a step (b) of mixing an alkali silicate aqueous solution; a step (c) of mixing gluten; a step (d) of mixing a sulfuric acid aqueous solution to prepare mixed hydrogel slurry; and a step (f) of performing hydrothermal treatment at 120 to 300°C for 5 to 200 hr.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
