PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a lithium-manganese compound oxide which ensures a high discharge capacity when used as a positive active material, and exhibits excellent cycle characteristics when used at high temperature.SOLUTION: A production method of a lithium-manganese compound oxide includes: a precursor preparation step in which a lithium source, a manganese source, a compound containing Mand a compound containing Mare ground and mixed so that the ratio of the numbers of atoms becomes Li:Mn:M:M=(+):(2---)::, while being contained in a solvent, and the resulting slurry is dried to obtain a precursor; a first firing step of obtaining a primary fired product by firing the precursor at 600-1,200°C; a washing step of obtaining a washed product by washing the primary fired product; and a second firing step of obtaining a lithium-manganese compound oxide represented by LiMnMOby firing the washed product at 600-1,200°C.
