PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator that has high insulation properties, high dendrite resistance, high wettability and high ion conductivity in addition to high mechanical strength.SOLUTION: A separator 101 comprises a polyethylene terephthalate fiber layer 110 and nanofiber layers 120 and 130. The polyethylene terephthalate fiber layer 110 is produced by preparing a polyethylene terephthalate fiber, forming the fiber into a sheet-like shape with a paper production method for producing paper, and then pressurizing the fiber while the fiber is heated. Accordingly, the separator having high insulation properties, high dendrite resistance, high wettability and high ion conductivity in addition to high mechanical strength can be obtained.
