PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation device used for appropriate reproduction of an uneven shape for texture surface on the surface of an embossing plate.SOLUTION: This separation device 1 produces mask data required when an embossing plate is manufactured using etching technique, with the help of height field data, i.e. data representing information on the height of texture in terms of gradation value. The separation device 1 comprises: a frequency resolving means 23 which resolves the height field data by its frequency component; a multi-gradation conversion means 25 which makes each piece of the height field data resolved by the frequency resolving means 23 multivalent using a threshold limit value, and thus, converts the height field data into the multivalent data; and a mask data producing means which produces the mask data, using the height field data converted by the multi-gradation conversion means 25.
