PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high temperature superconductor terahertz oscillator and a method of manufacturing a high temperature superconductor terahertz oscillator which implement terahertz wave radiation at a plurality of frequencies from a single element and implement control of the frequencies.;SOLUTION: The high temperature superconductor terahertz oscillator includes: a rectangular mesa structure part 12 formed of a single crystal 10 of a high temperature superconductor BSCCO having an intrinsic Josephson junction, and exciting Fabry-Perot resonance; and a metal electrode 22 formed on top of the rectangular mesa structure part to supply power to the rectangular mesa structure part and control an external thermal diffusion amount from the mesa structure part. The area of the metal electrode is made smaller than the area of the rectangular mesa structure part to provide a non-uniform temperature distribution and change a cavity size determining an oscillation frequency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
