PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a rotational angle of a torsion balance without being influenced by simple harmonic oscillation due to pendulum motion of a centroid of an arm against a thin wire for suspending the arm of the torsion balance.;SOLUTION: A micro force measurement apparatus measures micro force by the torsion balance configured to measure a rotational angle around a center axis of an arm 12. An image information acquisition device 20 inputs an image of the arm 12, generates an image information signal 25 of the image, and generates and outputs a video frame 27 for displaying the image information signal as a static two-dimensional optical intensity image of the arm 12 in time series. An image information processing device 30 determines a plurality of luminance centroid coordinate points to be centroids of optical intensity from the static two-dimensional optical intensity image of the arm 12, finds out an equation of a straight line in which the sum of squares of distances from the plurality of luminance centroid coordinate points is minimized by a least-squares method, and determines the size of force applied to an object 10 from a parameter expressing an inclination of the straight line.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
