PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for removing an active oxygen radical which contains an active oxygen radical scavenger having active oxygen radical-scavenging activities, and a material (α-material) for extremely improving the active oxygen radical-scavenging activities of the scavenger; and to provide an active oxygen radical remover for the hair, a pretreatment agent/intermediate treatment agent/posttreatment agent for hair dyeing and a pretreatment agent/intermediate treatment agent/posttreatment agent for permanent waving. PSOLUTION: The composition for removing the active oxygen radical comprises at least one kind of the active oxygen radical scavenger selected from γ-keratose, eucalyptus essence and rosemary essence, and the specific α-material, and is suitably usable as the pretreatment agent/intermediate treatment agent/posttreatment agent for the hair dyeing and the pretreatment agent/intermediate treatment agent/posttreatment agent for the permanent waving.
