PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a preform for a coupled multi-core fiber, which can manufacture a highly reliable coupled multi-core fiber, a method for manufacturing a coupled multi-core fiber, and a coupled multi-core fiber.;SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a preform 10P for a coupled multi-core fiber includes an arrangement step P1 of arranging a plurality of core glass bodies 11P and a clad glass body 12P so that the plurality of core glass bodies 11P to become a plurality of cores 11 are surrounded by the clad glass body 12P and peripheral surfaces of the adjacent core glass bodies 11P are mutually contacted, and a collapse step P2 of collapsing gaps between the core glass bodies 11P and the clad glass body 12P, wherein the peripheral region 16 in a predetermined thickness from the peripheral surface of the each core glass body 11P is composed of a silica glass including no germanium, and the clad glass body 12P is composed of a silica glass having a lower refractive index than the peripheral region of the core glass body 11P.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
