PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mold powder of non-Newtonian fluid type and having excellent lubricity which is hardly mixed in molten steel in a mold, and capable of preventing any surface vertical cracking of a cast slab at the same time by gradually cooling the heat release of the cast slab by the mold, and manufactured at lower cost than that of conventional non-Newtonian fluid type mold powder.;SOLUTION: The mold powder for continuous casting of steel mainly consists of two or more kinds of substances out of CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, fluorides, and alkaline metal oxides, and further contains ≥0.5 mass% and ≤10 mass% Cr2O3. Since Cr2O3 is present in the mold powder in a molten state as suspension particles, the mold powder is non-Newtonian fluidized in a molten state.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
