Disclosed is an organic compound and/or organic material which has luminescence with high luminous efficiency and high charge mobility. Also disclosed is a method for producing the organic compound and/or organic material with high efficiency. Specifically disclosed is an indacene derivative represented by general formula (I) (wherein Ar1-Ar6 each independently represents an aryl group; Ra and Rb each independently represents a hydrogen atom or an alkoxy group; and E1 and E2 each independently represents a group such as a halogen atom or the like).
