PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-top for continuous casting and a method of continuous casting which enables injection which does not cause temperature unevenness in a continuous casting mold when molten metal is poured in the continuous casting mold from the hot-top.;SOLUTION: The molten metal introduced in an annular groove 14 is prevented from being poured from a molten metal flow down outlet 6 to the continuous casting mold 4 by a weir 16 between the annular groove 14 and the molten metal flow down outlet 6 at the start of introduction. Since the molten metal cooled down at this time flows down to a molten metal tank 20, temperature of the hot-top 2 for continuous casting, especially the weir 16 efficiently rises. After that, a molten metal surface level rises, overflows from the top 16a of the weir 16, and the molten metal flows down from the molten metal flow down outlet 6 along the inner peripheral shape of the continuous casting mold 4, the molten metal smoothly flows in the continuous casting mold 4 while maintaining sufficiently high temperature. Thus, the temperature unevenness is not caused in the continuous casting mold 4 when the molten metal is poured to the continuous casting mold 4 from the hot-top 2 for continuous casting, and a cylindrical ingot with sufficiently high quality is manufactured.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
