P To provide a method of producing a biomaterial-originated glycol excellent in light transmittance and to provide a polyester produced from the glycol. PSOLUTION: A glycol produced from a biomaterial is provided. The method of producing the biomaterial-originated glycol excellent in light transmittance comprises heating the glycol and treating it in a filtration step using activated carbon to produce a product having ≥ 50% light transmittance in a wavelength range of 300-350 nm.
