Decasaccharide and sulfated octasaccharide of chondroitin sulfate from squid cartilage

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new sulfated oligosaccharide useful as a reagent for research for elucidating structure and function of chondroitin sulfate having various bioactivities. PSOLUTION: A plurality of fractions including octasaccharide or decasaccharide of sulfated oligosaccharide are prepared by using chondroitin sulfate (CS-E) of cuttlefish cartilage as a starting material, fragmentating the same using hyaluronidase to obtain octasaccharide and decasaccharide fractions which are subsequently fractionated by anion exchange chromatography. By carrying out structural analysis on the sulfated oligosaccharide included in each fraction, 20 species in total of structures of new sulfated octasaccharide and decasaccharide are defined. These sulfated octasaccharide and decasaccharide are useful for analyzing epitopic structure of antichondroitin sulfate antibody (MO-225). PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
