PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane pump that can quickly raise pump discharge pressure.;SOLUTION: The vane pump 1 used as a fluid pressure supply source includes: a plurality of back pressure chambers 6 defined between a vane 3 and a slit 5; a plurality of back pressure grooves 55 to 58 which communicate with the back pressure chambers 6 associated with the rotation of the vane 2; and a plurality of communication grooves 61 to 64 which make the back pressure grooves 55 to 58 adjoining each other with respect to the rotational circumferential direction communicate with each other. An area of a passage cross section of the communication groove 61 connected to the back pressure groove 55 which is located in a region above a horizontal line H passing through the rotation center of a rotor 2 and in a suction region is formed larger than that of a passage cross section of the communication groove 62 connected to the back pressure groove 57 which is located in a region below the horizontal line H passing through the rotation center of the rotor 2 and in the suction region.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
