PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous membrane having excellent heat resistance and steam resistance, and its production method, and to provide a porous composite, and its production method.;SOLUTION: The porous membrane has pores with a mean pore size of not greater than 10 nm, and is composed of a porous body containing an Al element, a Ni element and an O element. The containing ratio of the above Al element and the above Ni element is preferably 60-99 mol% of Al₂O₃, and 1-40 mol% of NiO to their total 100 mol% when expressed in terms of their oxides Al₂O₃ and NiO.
