Evaluation method of spot staining state in cornea or conjunctiva

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately evaluating the dotty stain conditions in cornea or conjunctiva as objective values without variation after its vital staining. PSOLUTION: Based on the photograph of stained cornea or conjunctiva and a sample of several dotty stain density levels of regional dotty stain areas, illustrations are prepared to show the density distribution of dotty stains over the regional areas divided by drawing lines in each circle for preparing the illustration. The illustrations obtained are taken in a computer to measure the respective number of pixels per region with varied dotty stain density levels in the illustration, and the total number of pixels within the circle for preparing the illustration. After multiplying the pixel number per region with varied dotty stain density levels by a weighting coefficient set up for each density level, all the regional weighted pixel numbers are totaled to obtain the total weighted pixels of the entire stained regional areas. The pixel number of the entire regional stained areas is divided by the total pixel number within the circle for preparing the illustration, and the resulting value is used to evaluate all the dotty stain areas of the entire cornea or conjunctiva examined.
