It is an object of the present invention to provide a nitrogen-containing condensed ring compound, which can be used as an organic n-type semiconductor having an excellent electron transport property and which is also excellent in terms of solubility in an organic solvent. The nitrogen-containing condensed ring compound of the present invention has a structural unit represented by the following formula (1-1) or formula (1-2):; ;wherein Ar¹ represents an aromatic ring; one of Y¹ and Y² represents a single bond, and the other represents —C(R¹¹)(R¹²)— or —C(═X¹)—; one of Y³ and Y⁴ represents a single bond, and) the other represents —C(R²¹)(R²²)— or —C(═X²)—, and one of Y¹ to Y⁴ represents —C(R¹¹)(R¹²)— or —C(R²¹)(R²²)—; at least one of W¹ and W² represents —N═; and Z¹ and Z² each represent any one of the groups represented by the formula (i) to the formula (ix).
