The mother counter substrate has plural counter substrates of liquid crystal cells. A sealing material is arranged in two rows surrounding the counter substrates in the periphery of the mother counter substrate, except for the seal portions in which seal portion sealing materials are arranged in two rows in a staggered manner on the short sides. When the mother counter substrate and the mother TFT substrate are overlapped and the inside air is let out, the sealing materials are heated. Then, the seal portion sealing materials are bridged together to seal the interior of the mother panel.
