Device for simulating variable lung compliance, comprising a structure having two main components (3, 4) between which an artificial lung (1) is situated, the main components (3, 4) being adapted to be moved away from each other by the lung (1) when the lung is inflated and are adapted to move towards one another to force air out of the lung (1) in an exhalation phase; and a biasing means (17, 18) acting to provide a force that acts to move the two main parts (3, 4) towards one another.
