In the mechanical process for producing an electrochemically active SRIMOCA structure with a motif of sharp ridges on the surface of a compact carbon material, the structure is formed by removing material from the surface of the compact carbon material body (1) on the support (4) with a rigidly anchored cutting tool (5) of hard material, (5) and the body surface (1) perform a translational movement relative to one another.
