The present invention, in general, relates to network multi functional peripherals. Further, this invention relates to sending message confirmation report for the PC fax jobs to an associated fax machine in a network fax sending system. More particularly, this invention relates to a method for sending message confirmation report for the PC fax job to an associated telephone number based upon subnet mask extracted from the source IP Address. This invention explains a method for sending message confirmation based upon the subnet mask in MFP comprising the steps of: sending a fax job from MFP by the user to a specified telephone number; reading the source IP address from the said fax job information send by the user; extracting the subnet mask from the said source IP address; checking the addition of any association information in the said subnet address; sending a message confirmation report to the fax machine for which the association is added if addition of an association is identified; and printing/storing the message confirmation report in the Local MFP from which the Job is initiated if the association is not added.
