The invention relates to a combination which comprises a bisthiazolium salt, which is a compound of formula (VI) or a precursor thereof, and artemisinin or a derivative thereof. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one bisthiazolium salt, which is a compound of formula (VI) or a precursor thereof, and artemisinin or a derivative thereof. The invention also relates to the use of such a combination for the preparation of a medicament for use in the treatment or prevention of severe malaria. Finally, the invention relates to a kit for the treatment or prevention of severe malaria.
