The present invention discloses an integrated process for utilization of important food industries wastes in Middle East countries, mainly olive mill wastewater (OMW) and labanah whey, a by-product of yogurt in the process of labanah production, to reduce the pollutants therein and to produce bio-ethanol from these types of wastes. The present invention illustrates the ability of whey biomass to remove substantial amounts of aromatic compounds present in OMW, mainly phenolic compounds; this was reflected on reduction of the intensity of OMW black colour. Moreover, production of bio-ethanol according to the present invention was carried out in fermentation media composed of labanah whey alone; either whole or deproteinated with or without OMW, as well as in fermentation media composed of labanah whey combined with cheese whey, with or without OMW, for overcoming the problems faced during bio-ethanol production from cheese whey alone; wherein OMW was used in various concentrations, The present invention discloses also a process for improvement of bio-ethanol production from labanah whey combined with cheese whey along with OMW in mixed yeast cultures.
