The method of starting a petrol-fuelled combustion engine with the use of an alternative gas fuel installation is to deliver heat from the heater to the evaporator before, during and after engine start-up in order to evaporate and heat the gas so, to enable the engine to operate at a low cooling temperature and to determine the gas dose, irrespective of the time of injection of petrol during engine start-up and warm-up. The mode of heating of the auxiliary-starting steam reducer is that heat is supplied to the steam reducer from the auxiliary-starting heater,when it is necessary to see the steam reducer during engine operation. The auxiliary heater is constructed of a body (1) with reciprocating filament lamps (2) with heat conduction between the elements by means of a thermo-conductive paste (3),fitted to a vapour-reducing unit carrying out the above engine power modes. The body (1) is made of ducts, leading to a thermo-conductive paste (3) to improve the heat exchange. The auxiliary-starter heater controller (5) controls the work of the filament candles (2) and attaches the gas valve (6) after the engine has reached a specified temperature. As a result, the engine is supplied with heated gas during start-up and heating. The heater controller (5) cooperates with the gas controller (7) in determining the gas dose at start-up and warm-up.
